Insider Tips

  • ⚓
Tender lines can be long: Be at the gangway early (before 9 AM) or wait until mid-morning crowds clear. Last tender times are strictly enforced.
  • 🌊
Weather can cancel tendering: Rough sea or strong winds can suspend operations for the whole day. Have a backup plan on board.
  • 🚌
SITA buses are cheap but packed: Tickets to Positano or Ravello cost a few euros but buses get extremely crowded in summer. Buy tickets at the tabacchi on the waterfront before boarding.
  • 🍋
Buy local limoncello: Amalfi lemons (sfusato amalfitano) are IGP-protected — the limoncello and lemon granita here is genuinely different from tourist-trap versions elsewhere.
  • 👟
Wear good shoes: Amalfi's lanes involve steps and cobblestones. The Path of the Gods hike requires proper footwear — flip-flops are a bad idea.
