Insider Tips

  • 💶
Bring Czech Koruna (CZK). Small shops and cafés in both town centers may not accept cards — the pier area has no ATM, so draw cash before the cruise or in Brandýs town.
  • 🏰
Castle exterior is always visible; interior tours are seasonal. Check opening hours with your cruise director — the castle museum is not always open on short-notice calls.
  • 🕍
Pilgrimage traffic peaks in September. The annual Saint Wenceslas pilgrimage (late September) draws large crowds to Stará Boleslav — a wonderful atmosphere but expect limited restaurant seating.
  • 🚖
Prague is easily reachable independently. A taxi from the pier to Prague Old Town runs roughly 600–800 CZK (€25–35) each way. Agree on the price before you get in.
  • ☁️
Central Bohemia weather is variable. Pack a light layer — riverside conditions can be breezy even on warm summer days, and afternoon showers are common in June–August.
