Insider Tips

  • Collect a tender ticket early. On busy days (especially with multiple ships in port) tender lines back up fast. Head to the tender staging area as soon as it opens.
  • 🛵
Golf carts are worth it. Rentals run ~$40–60/hr for a 4-person cart and unlock viewpoints and the Casino area that walkers often skip.
  • 🤿
Gear up dockside. Snorkel rental shops cluster near the pier. Casino Point Dive Park is a 10-minute walk and has excellent kelp-forest visibility most days.
  • 💵
Avalon is pricey. Expect California resort prices — $20+ lunches, $5 bottled water at the beach. Grab snacks onboard or budget up.
  • 🦬
Bison are in the interior, not Avalon. You won't see them on a casual walk — book a Jeep eco-tour or guided off-road excursion if bison are on your list.
