Insider Tips

  • ⚓
Tender queues move fast on busy days. Viking and Princess often call on the same dates — collect tender tickets at first announcement and expect a 20–30 min wait each way on peak days.
  • 🚆
The DART is your friend. It departs literally across the road from the tender landing, runs every 10–15 min, and gets you to Trinity College in 20 minutes for ~€6–7 return. No need for a ship excursion.
  • 🌦️
Irish weather is famously unpredictable. Even a sunny June morning can turn windy on the East Pier. Pack a lightweight waterproof and a layer — you'll thank yourself.
  • 💶
Card payments accepted everywhere. Ireland uses the Euro. Contactless and Apple/Google Pay work in virtually every shop, café, and pub, including the DART ticket machines.
  • 🍦
Teddy's is non-negotiable. Operating since 1950, this ice cream kiosk near the East Pier entrance serves the classic Irish '99' soft-serve. It's a rite of passage — the queue is part of the experience.
