Insider Tips

  • 💳
Iceland is cashless. You don't need Icelandic Króna — the bookstore, museum, and pub all take cards and mobile pay. Leave cash at home.
  • 🧥
Dress for Westfjords weather. Even in summer, expect 8–12°C with biting fjord winds. Bring a windproof/waterproof layer — conditions can change in minutes.
  • 👥
The village has ~200 residents. If your ship carries hundreds, you'll outnumber the locals several times over. Be respectful — stay on paths, don't peer into homes.
  • 🍺
Eat at Vagninn. The village pub-restaurant is the best food stop — fresh fish of the day, local beer on tap, and a cozy atmosphere. Worth a visit if time allows.
  • 🚶
No transport in the village. Everything walkable is within 10 min on foot. For the golden sand beaches across the fjord, book a ship excursion or arrange a local guide.

Staying Connected

Wi-Fi, mobile data, and power basics for your day ashore.

📶 Wi-Fi

Free Wi-Fi is common at cruise terminals and most cafés and restaurants — just ask staff for the password. Ship Wi-Fi is slow and pricey by comparison.

📱 Mobile Data

Part of EU roaming — EU/UK plans work at home rates. Visitors from elsewhere: a local or travel eSIM is cheapest.

🔌 Plugs & Power

Plug type C, F, 230V / 50Hz. Bring an adapter if your plugs differ; most phone and laptop chargers handle the voltage automatically — check the label before plugging in.
