Insider Tips

  • 💵
Bring Danish Krone cash. The Pilersuisoq store takes cards, but local craft sellers are cash-only. No ATM exists in the village.
  • 🥾
Wear sturdy, grippy boots. Gravel paths and wet wooden stairs are the norm — sandals or sneakers are a bad idea.
  • 🐕
Don't pet the sled dogs. They are working animals, not pets, and can be dangerous. Admire from a distance.
  • 📵
Turn on airplane mode. Greenland roaming is not covered by EU plans and can be extremely expensive. Wi-Fi does not exist ashore.
  • 📷
Ask before photographing locals. This is a real community. Always get permission, especially before photographing children.
