Getting Ashore in Stamsund
1 Dock at Stamsund Kai Hurtigruten, Havila, and small expedition ships tie up at the main pier. Walk off the gangway and you're in the village within minutes — no shuttle needed.
2 Larger ships: check your pier If your ship is too large for Stamsund's pier, you may dock at Leknes (Gravdal) or use tenders. Confirm with the ship's daily program before going ashore.
3 Getting around There is no hop-on hop-off bus. For sights beyond the village (Viking Museum, beaches), pre-book a ship excursion or arrange a rental car from Leknes. Cards are accepted nearly everywhere — no need for cash.

🐟 Stockfish season: The famous drying cod racks (hjell) are a winter–spring phenomenon (roughly Feb–May). If you visit in summer, the racks will likely be bare.
