Sommarøy is a tiny island — most beaches, viewpoints, and the village center are easily walkable from the pier. It is the best way to explore once ashore.
Best Arctic operates a summer bus (June–August) between Sommarøy Arctic Hotel and Tromsø city center (Prostneset Terminal). Journey takes about 1.5 hours each way.
Svipper runs scheduled buses to Tromsø (Polaria station) roughly twice daily. Journey is about 1 hour 45 minutes; confirm timetable at sommaroy.no/transport.
Taxis can be arranged for the ~1-hour drive to Tromsø city center. No taxis are permanently stationed on the island; pre-booking from Tromsø is recommended.
